The Correctness came across this article bemoaning the state of cable television. Since television is close to our heart, and we fully agree with everything the article says, we’re linking here for your pleasure. Also, there’s a delicious amount of irony in the fact that rather than generate new content on this subject, we’re simply “re-broadcasting”. The Correctness misses The Learning Channel very much. We preferred the days of James Burke and Desmond Morris to the train wrecks of reality shows applauding and showering morons with gifts simply because they choose to pop out 6-12 children at one time. But we are not TLC’s demographic anymore, and all of cable TV is moving closer to an inert lower common denominator. James Burke could explain why that is, but we can’t show you, because Swap My Frontal Lobe is on in 10 minutes.

I am rebroadcasting a favourite quote from Hunter S Thompson:

The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.
