Nonsense. Whedon has more than enough fans to support a business model. There are in the neighborhood of 2.5 Million people in the US alone that watch Dollhouse. Even if you take half of those out as casual fans who wouldn’t buy his stuff, that still leaves 1.25M. Even if only 600,000 paid $1 per episode, you have more than enough budget.

This would fail. You know why it would fail? Because Joss Whedon’s shows are killed for bad ratings. The Whedonites are a small-but-vocal group of fanatics, and there aren’t enough of them to support a pay-once-per-episode digital download platform. “Serenity” only turned a profit because of multiple ticket purchases by the same individuals; The same as “Titanic”.

“Dollhouse” is failing on the networks because it sucks, not because of any network politics. Only the most diehard, head-in-the-sand Whedonite can defend “Dollhouse”.

At least fans of “Heroes” will admit the show is crap. Whedonites seem to defend him at every turn. It’s like they can’t believe he’d write something they didn’t like.
