Closing Time: Listen Up

It's no secret that here at The Correctness, we are a very literate bunch. We're interested in things literary, words of all kinds. Normally, this isn't a problem, apart from the always being right and constantly having to correct language choices. The song that's been in my mind lately, is "Closing Time" by Semisonic. It's always been a favorite of mine, not because it's very catchy, but because it has some very interesting phrasings. The one that always stick out is
