NOT COOL.

Found this story by way of Josh Flanagan at ifanboy.com.

Basically, some douche who writes for Men’s Health and Maxim took some pics of people in costumes at the New York Comic Con, and made fun of them because they weren’t totally cut.

We here at the The Correctness do our fair share of mockery and castigation, but generally ours is well written and makes an effort. Buddy’s piece is just mean spirited and of crappy quality.

It looks like Men’s Fitness took the article down, so as much as I hate to send any traffic to this guy, the link to the pics is below.

   Yeah…people are dicks. I got a drive by assholing when I dared to wear a superman shirt once. Thugs in a pick up truck who felt compelled to shout out their witticism, as they were currently delighting in the irony of a fat guy wearing a Superman shirt. It will always be this way. As the Correctness Resident Fat Guy I feel great empathy towards these people. Satire should be aimed upwards, at those who NEED to be taken down a peg or two. These people do not need more ridicule in their lives. Ridicule is what drove them toward escapism in the first place. In short, we don’t go to your sports bar and take pictures of you being a douchebag, don’t come to our convention and take pictures of us being fat nerds.

   The article would have been forgivable if it were funny … but it’s not. Rather than the savage humor of Triumph the Insult Dog it came off as written by someone with more abs than brains. Comic fans are fat? I hadn’t noticed that, thanks for clearing the webs from my eyes.
