John Byrne is back? | The Correctness

John Byrne is back?

Found this article over at First Comic News, about the relaunch/continuation of John Byrne’s Next Men. The Correctness are clearly caught in the late 80′s comic-wise, and John Byrne is as close as you get to a Demigod of comics at that time.

Now, the real question is, will this be a triumphant return, or will it turn in to another (shudder) X-Men Forvever.

Hey Claremont, you know what your book is missing? Nope, not Kitty Pryde with Wolverine’s claw. Nope, not Storm (wait, how many versions of Storm do you have now???? Three? Are you friggin kidding?) It’s your intelligence and some respect for ours.

Anyways, we, ah screw it, I am a huge Byrne fan, and for a while, everything he worked on was better for it. His Alpha Flight was awesome, his Fantastic Four run has to still stand as the best the book has ever been, and even Next Men was a cool endeavour in its day. (Hell, I even had a copy of that poster up there.) So, I will be hoping that the boys at Phoenix ordered a few copies, and recommend you find one too. If I’m wrong, we can all bitch about it here later.

That’s awesome news. I loved him on “Bizarre” especially those sketches where the whole conversation was on T-shirts. Ooh and Super Dave, I loved him too. This is a long overdue comeback.

Wait, wait, wait! Stop this post! This has gone on long enough you can’t lead these people on like this. John Byner is 72 years old, and… wait never mind I’m leaving now before I get a pie in the face.

Birthing matrix aside, Byrne is alright in my book. But quite frankly I’m saving all my excitement for when Liefeld gets back to doing X-Men.

There is a distinct lack of pouches and way too many feet in my life.
